Busy Days!!

June 3, 2011

Greetings from Room 107!

Happy June! We are certainly enjoying the last leg of our EHB journey in these final weeks of school, which are filled with many special events and projects. Here is a window on this past week:

ELA: We used our colonial personas to write letters to fictitious relatives back in England describing life in the colonies. Next week we will give them an authentic antique look with tea stain. We also began writing our very own class play. Stay tuned for performance dates!

Math: We explored data and probability and the language of chance (likely/unlikely/50-50/certain/impossible).

SS/Science: In social studies, we worked on our colonial village. In science, we concluded our simple machines unit.

Other: We enjoyed a fabulous field trip to the Barnstable High School to hear the Cape Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations to three of our classmates (Emma, Jasmine, and Thomas) who were on a blue ribbon winning team for the Music Memory Contest. We also attended a highly entertaining and educational presentation from author Ralph Masiello.

Next Tuesday, June 7, is Field Day (weather permitting). Comfortable clothing and sneakers are advised. The Grade 3 EHB Summer Book Swap will be held on Wednesday, June 8. Students who bring in one book may swap for two books. Thursday, June 9, is our field trip to the Jericho House. As you can see, it will be another very busy week!!

Best wishes to all for a peaceful weekend!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
