Ninth Inning!

June 19, 2015

Greetings from Room 116:

We are fast approaching the end of the school year, and I must admit that I’m not ready to say goodbye to this incredible group of children. We continue to maximize our time together, as you can see:

ELA: We reviewed various spelling patterns and published on our biome reports. We also wrote the script for our end-of-the-year class play.

Math: We did a great job on our end-of-the-year assessment – a tremendous tribute to our hard work all year long!!

SS/Science: We continued to explore the history of our magnificent state. In addition, we learned about sound wave frequencies and how sound travels.

Other: We enjoyed a Step-Up Day at Wixon and ended the week with special Celebrations-related activities.

Please remember the following upcoming events:

  • Jericho Field Trip: June 22, from 9:30 – 11:30
  • Field Day: June 23, from 1:30 – 3:10
  • Literacy Fair: June 24, from 11:00-11:30
  • Grade 3 Celebration: June 26, from 10:00 -11:30
  • EHBi Family Picnic: June 26, from 12:00 – 12:45

We also hope you can join us for a special performance of our class play on Tuesday, June 30, which is a half-day for students (Time TBD).

Best wishes to all,

Ms. Feeney

June 12, 2015

Greetings from Room 116!

It was so nice to have a normal week for a change. Once we settled back into our regular routine, we were able to get a lot accomplished:

ELA: We worked on compound words in Spelling and finished a variety of other ELA projects. We also completed our historical fiction novels.

SS: We continued to research colonial trades and learned more about colonial life and maritime history.

Math: We utilized different math concepts to interpret data from a variety of graphs, including pictographs, bar graphs, pie charts, and line plots.

Science: We concluded our simple machines unit with several hands-on experiments.

Other: In addition to all of the above, we are preparing for our Third Grade Celebrations program, which will be held on Friday, June 26th.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant weekend!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
