Time Travel!

October 7, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

What an amazing week we’ve had time travelling back to the 1600s as Pilgrims and Wampanoags. Thank you to our incredible PTAC and our parent chaperones who helped make our Plimoth Plantation/Mayflower field trip a huge success!

Other areas of work included:

ELA: We continued reading our mystery books, practicing predicting and summarizing strategies. In Spelling, we concentrated on oi/ow words, while focusing on the conjunctions or, and, but in Grammar.

Math: We deepened our understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division, remembering that division can be represented as a missing factor problem too. The quotient or answer too a division problem represents either the number of groups (factor #1) or the size of each group (factor #2).

Science/SS: We spent time learning more about and comparing/contrasting the lives of the Wampanoags and Pilgrims in the early 1620s.

Other: During Technology, we practiced Word document skills while writing about our social studies experiences this week.

I have attached another fall conference form with the remaining available time slots. Best wishes to all for a restful long weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
