Many Thanks!!

October 28, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

It was wonderful to meet with everyone at conferences. Thank you so much for your ongoing support at home. Our partnership is critical to student success.

Following is a brief recap of the rest of our week:

ELA: We focused on the main characters in our mystery books to determine those qualities that make them effective detectives. We also practiced summarizing, clarifying, questioning, and predicting strategies.

Math: We solved multiplication and division problems involving the 6-9 facts. Students should review their x6, x7, x8, and x9 facts as part of nightly homework. Check out our classroom blog as well as websites/games distributed at conferences for fun fact practice opportunities.

Science/SS: We learned more about the cranberry plant and its relevance to our region’s economy. We conducted our own cranberry bounce experiments to assess the qualities of a “good” cranberry. We also examined tree stumps and seasonal changes in the forest biome to further extend our understanding of life cycles.

Please note that the Grade 3 Grandparent Day is Monday, November 4th. Best wishes to all for a warmer weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
