Happy Holidays!!

December 16, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

Here are some of this week’s highlights:

ELA: We studied the long o (o/oa/ow) spelling pattern and continued to discuss possessives. In our reading groups, we focused on character analysis and plot development with our realistic fiction books.

Math: We worked on estimation while adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers using the traditional algorithm.

Science/SS: We learned more about food chains and added to our replica Wampanoag village.

Other: We spent more time coding games in Computers and enjoyed our final Calmer Choice sessions.

Please remember that the EHBi Holiday concert is on Wednesday, December 21st, at 10:00 am. Also, there is no school from Friday, December 23rd through Tuesday, January 3rd, due to the holiday break.

Best wishes to all for a wonderful vacation with family and friends!! See you on Wednesday, January 4th.

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney

P.S. Remember to read and practice math facts.

December 8, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

What a whirlwind this week has been. We have been very busy, as you can see:

ELA: We studied the i/igh (long i sound) spelling pattern, and focused on grammar rules for possessive nouns. We also examined character development in our realistic fiction book groups.

Math: We learned about weight measurements (grams/kilograms) and liquid capacities (milliliters/liters).

Science/SS: We did a jigsaw reading of The True Book of the Wampanoags and created posters to teach others. We also added to our replica village.

Other: During Computers, we wrote codes to create LEGO game. We also practiced mindful movement during Calmer Choice.

We ended the week with a variety of holiday activities and class viewing of “Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer”!!

Best wishes for a wintry weekend

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
