Happy February!

February 2, 2018

Greetings from Room 116!

Fortunately, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning, so spring will be here soon. In the meantime, we will be going outside for recess as much as the weather permits, so please make sure that students are prepared with appropriate clothing. In the classroom, we are keeping warm and busy as you can see:

ELA: We worked on “schwa” vowel sounds in Spelling and in Grammar. In addition, we worked on narrative writing and read our realistic fiction books. We continue to examine how characters are revealed through their thoughts, actions, and words, and how they impact what happens in the story.

Math: We learned that fractions represent equal parts of a whole. We learned how to identify fractions and began partitioning shapes into fractional parts.

Science/SS: We explored how all living organisms are connected through food chains and webs in various ecosystems.

Other: We enjoyed additional STEM activities during Library, and created GOOGLE slides during technology.

Believe it or not, Spring Conferences are next month! Attached, please find a sign-up sheet. Please indicate your top three choices, and I will do my best to accommodate your preferences.

Best wishes to all for a winning weekend! Go Pats!!!!

Most Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
