Greetings from Room 116!

Thank you to all who were able to attend Monday’s Grandparents’ Breakfast. What an amazing extended family we have! Additional thanks to all of the veterans in our extended family; we are so grateful for your dedication and service to our nation. Our other highlights include:

ELA: We studied the ai/ay (long a sound) spelling pattern, and focused on grammar rules for pronouns. We began an exciting genre focus on legends.

Math: We took our end of Module 3 Assessment.

Science/SS: We learned more about the importance of the cranberry plant to our environment and our economy.

Other: During Computers, we launched Study Island. We also discussed different perspectives during Calmer Choice.

Thank you for attending the 2016 EHBi Farm-to-Table Dinner. It was a huge success! Best wishes for a wonderful weekend and a blessed Thanksgiving!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney

*Please note that students should continue read 20-30 minutes nightly, in addition to practicing all math facts.

November Already?!

November 4, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

What a wonderful week we had. Here are some of the highlights:

ELA: We studied the vowel/consonant/silent e spelling pattern and worked on irregular plurals. We continued to practice reading roles in our mystery groups. We also enjoyed hearing and writing Halloween stories.

Math: We worked on 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, and 9’s facts, learning a variety of strategies. We also took our Mid-Module 3 assessment. Students demonstrated sound understanding of concepts.

Science/SS: We continued our cranberry bounce experiments and discussed wet and dry harvesting techniques.

Other: In Computers, we listened to online books and posted summaries while also commenting on others posts. During Calmer Choice, we discussed ways to focus on and appreciate the many positive things in our lives. We are truly blessed.

Please remember to set your clocks ahead as we “fall forward” this weekend. There will be no school next Tuesday (11/8) due to Election Day/Teacher Professional Day or Friday (11/11) in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney

P.S. Please remember that students should continue to read 20-30 minutes of self-selected text and review their x3, x4, x6, x7, x8, and x9 facts as part of nightly homework.
