Happy October!

October 4, 2013

Greetings from Room 116!

Wow! September really flew by!! I hope that everyone is enjoying this glorious weather. Following is a snapshot of our work this past week:

ELA: We finished our guided reading mystery books this week, practicing the comprehension strategies of summarizing and predicting. We also wrote our first reading responses and created puzzles to display our learning. In Spelling, we reviewed the “ou” and “oi” spelling patterns.

Math: We continued to work with different diagrams to model multiplication and division problems. We also took a mid-Module assessment to see what we have learned so far. Students should practice math facts (x2, X3, X4, and X5) at home nightly to help build fluency.

Science/SS: We made scientific observations about the trees on our school grounds. We also continued our exploration of the life cycle of cranberries.

Other: We learned new words in Spanish and began writing in the style of Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are during Enrichment.

Best wishes for a lovely weekend!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
