Week One!

September 9, 2016

Greetings from Room 116!

Thank you all so much for helping students to successfully transition back to school! We have been working hard to internalize daily routines and classroom expectations, which will help us to maximize our time on learning.

This week we set individual academic goals for ourselves. We also worked together to lay the foundation for a safe learning environment, which will help us to achieve those goals. Following is a brief review of our busy week:

ELA: We read Ish, Name Jar, and Chrysanthemum, discussing and answering questions about these stories. We also worked on our “Hopes and Dreams” for this school year.

Math: We reviewed second grade place-value and addition concepts before launching our new multiplication unit. (Please find attached a Parent Overview for Module 1 as well as a lesson-by-lesson Homework Guide.)

Science/SS: We started our science unit on life cycles. This unit connects to first grade life cycle lessons and to our Grade 3 social studies unit on cranberries.

Other: We practiced keyboarding skills in Computers.

Please mark your calendars for the EHB Open House, which will take place on Thursday, September 22nd, from 6:00-7:30pm. Best wishes for a warm and wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
