April 29, 2016
Greetings from Room 116!

Hopefully everyone enjoyed a lovely vacation week with family and friends. Thank you for helping to ensure that students returned to school ready to learn. We have had a very productive week as a result:

ELA: In Spelling, we worked on comparatives and superlatives; while in Grammar, we reviewed articles such as a, an, and the. In book groups, we finished our traditional tales, focusing on author’s craft and purpose. We also continued our PARCC practice and writing projects.

Math: We solved multi-step and multi-operational story problems and reviewed for PARCC.

Science/SS: In Science, we concluded our exploration of weather and the water cycle. In Social Studies, we finished our study of the Pilgrims with several interactive group activities.

Other: In Computers, we worked on our Extreme Weather projects.

Next week, we will begin our PARCC sessions.  There will be four days of Math testing from Monday, May 2nd, through Thursday, May 5th. ELA assessments will be administered the following week from Monday, May 9th, through Wednesday, May 11th. Consequently, there will be no math or spelling homework over the next two weeks; however, students should continue to read and practice math facts every night. In addition, please make sure that they are well-rested during this time.

Best wishes to all for a relaxing weekend!

Sincerely,

Ms. Feeney
